no let up from those disco deviants ! for number seven in the series the imprint is proud to release the first set of edits by the rather excellent situation. they first came to light after passing a cd to greg wilson after a gig. he was blown away by the quality of their edits and they instantly started to feature prominently in his sets to much acclaim. then greg included one of their cuts pushin on on his recent resident advisor mix and their talents were a secret no more as the interest flooded in. that track pushin on features on this release. instantly bringing to mind classics like remember me, unfinished sympathy and back to life, it really is a wonderful piece of music which moves both the body and the soul. on the flip, they rework jazzy dees wicked electrofunk track get on up into a dj-friendly dancefloor bomb. its an amazing debut and theres much more to come on their own imprint which is launching this year. enjoy the music

he superb disco deviance crew continue to impress with their amazing re-edit series !! editors for this release are well known electrofunkateers from up north, bc, who definitely know their disco boogie. having been re-edited themselves on the redux imprint by legendary electrofunk don greg wilson on a track called >hardcore boogie<, they then went on to release the highly praised >konked out< and >missy done a pil< edits on the same imprint. on this, their first release for disco deviance, they continue their habit of not only re-editing, but also mashing and over-dubbing their cuts with their own played sounds to make an amazing blend of discoid bliss thats perfect for both djs and dancefloors. the opening cut >magnificent disco< is a wonderful mix of elements (both sampled and played) taken from their beloved konk, the clash and kool and the gang which are worked into a sublime disco work out. while on the flip its aretha franklins >jump to it< which gets reworked and extended into a hip disco joint that has echoes of atlantic conveyors crossover classic >we are<. enjoy the music

rinder & lewis: anger - considered one of the most abstract production teams of the disco era, this cut was taken from their >seven deadly sins< album (very rare!). never released on 12inch inch, this cut was a music box fave! not much to edit, just give it a dj friendlier drum intro. a great cut for a disco or a deep house set!mighty clouds of joy: time - one of my favorite edits! taken from their >its time< album. even thought this song was produced by dave crawford, the philly sound played a big part in it (thanks to norman harris on guitar & earl young on drums). the song was originally recorded in 2 parts, so i combined them with a little bit of dub. yes, you can give praise and boogie at the same time!

the wurst edits gang has inducted yet another ny disco acolyte to the fold, the inimitable irishman-in-new york, eamon harkin. known for wild dj sets not to mention his innovative bookings at such parties as sunday best and fun, harkins no stranger to dance music. no wonder the mans shared bills with such legends as afrika bambaataa, juan atkins, grandmaster flash, the egyptian lover, and kevin saunderson. on his debut single, the man heads straight into peak-time territory with the sinister sounds of >john boy<, where synth toms jump out of the shadows only to punctuate an incredibly propulsive groove. >innit< takes a decidedly different turn down edits lane, rejuvenating an early 90s house gem in magnificently wurst fashion.

ister smooth steps out with 3 new edits to expand his palette.nightlife unlimited is a classic muzic box favorite, all disco, all the time. the ron hardy version of peaches & prunes appears on muzic box classics volume one, and automan 2. theo parrish used it to create his track mustang 1 which appeared on a ltd white label in 2000. his version of bostich takes a huge swipe at this wbmx classic extending the drum intro into a crowd stoker and encorporating parts of the lp version into the original 12inch mix. guaranteed to stoke some fires in your set. the b side is a 10 minute version of the super rare le cop rock freak, a disco funker thats a deal sealer for those on the edge of snagging this ep

three hot cuts by editechnique. these guys turned some nice tracks into killer tracks and added some own flavors to it. sounds like they found some crazy wack tracks and turned them into hot peaktime material!

volume two from mcedits shows a slight expansion of his concept, but mostly hews true to the rows he hoed on volume one. his method is basically to take lovely ballads and slow jams and add a little house heat. its really remarkable how such a simple methodology can produce such effective results but the proof is in the grooves so drop the needle on these for some rich rewards.

two well known london producers provide these 3 tracks, amazing edits from kid creole and two other lesser know disco tracks. the producers have added a nice modern to 3 disco jams and kept the music heads happy with their dj friendly format. already causing a stir with toby tobias, stevie kotey, faze action, yam who. prins thomas has also been dropping the test press at berlins weekend and other recent gigs.
